Shoney's

"We were appalled by the dirtiness of the place. The battered and dog eared menu cards had food stuck to them and between the pages. The carpet was evidently beige at one time (you can see this around the edges of the booths), but it is now dark brown with dirt and feels sticky underfoot. The tiled floor around the buffet was slippery with grease. Some of the catering equipment in the kitchen, visible from our table, appeared to have sizeable areas of rust on it. Against our better judgment, we decided to order coffee. When that came, the coffee pots were also chipped around the neck, and there was more grime stuck to the bottom of the carafe. By that time, we couldn’t wait to get out of the place and as for eating there, it was a complete no no for us. The clientele already installed piling their plates high from the buffet evidently have rather lower standards than we do, or are prepared to overlook the dubious hygiene standards to fill up for not much money. If this establishment were inspected by the public health authorities where we come from, I am sure they would close it down. It was our first visit to a Shoney’s. We are regular visitors to other chains including Denny’s, IHOP, Bob Evans, Perkins, and Sonny’s (from Florida to California and several states in between) but I have never been in a place with such low standards as Shoney’s, Forsyth (GA) and it will be a long time before I will be persuaded to try another one. I've left feedback at Shoneys.com and by phone they haven't even had the courtesy to contact me."
