Alpenrose Lakeside Bistro & Bar

Visited the restaurant as it was recommend by our hostess. We didn't make a reservation as it was off season and took a chance. There wasn't much of a greeting at the host desk and there were a good amount of guests in the restaurant to give it atmosphere. Staff were pleasant enough. Service was a little slow but since we were on holiday anyway so we didn't mind taking our time. And perhaps the big group of almost 30 pax ahead of us contributed to the wait. We ordered entrees which didn't come. About 40 minutes later, we were surprised when the mains arrived, both steaks was over done as was the salmon (we were asked how we liked them cooked) and the chicken parma was burnt and rock hard. Just my Mum and myself today going for a Sunday drive and we decided on having lunch here and what a great choice. We both had the hamburger and WOW, so much flavour and one of the best, juiciest hamburgers I have had in quite a while and when it arrived I did think I could not eat it all, along with the hot crunchy chips but I did.The staff were lovely and we watched as they greeted everyone with a smile, well done.

Had a table of twelve, great efficient waitress. Meals were big, I had ribs they were good, but not yummy, got sick of them , my partner had chicken breast with prawn and garlic sauce that was nice. A couple had salmon and raved about it.So was ok but salad very boring.Pizzas looked great and so did the burgers.For a big group they did well getting it out all together. Bit pricey and not all of us happy

Breakfast is fairly varied and good, but nighttime is very cosy and the menu fairly extensive,good size portions and all our choices were delicious.All that with great service leads to a lovely experience.We ate there 3 days morning and night,and missed it after moving on.

If you're staying in one of the chalets, as we were, I suggest you dine in town, or buy supplies to prepare for yourself. The restaurant is a draughty barn and the pizzas leave a lot to be desired.
