Barnacles Fish and Chips

A basic chip shop as previous reviews have mentioned.When we went in the greeting was less than warm from who turned out to be the owner.I broke the ice by asking to taste one of his chips…. he was a little surprised to say the least.I only did it for a joke really , but speaking further we found out he was from Nepal and arrived 17 yrs ago.He was ok actually , his fish and chips were ok , nothing special but having said that we would go there again.

What a nice surprise this place was. Unassuming from the outside but the food is excellent. Grab a takeaway and head down to the beach (less than 5 mins walk away). We had grilled and battered barramundi, grilled salmon, calamari, chips and Greek salad. It was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned, not greasy. Don’t miss the chips, they are excellent.

Not actually expensive for the beach but all quite basic. Basa in a crispy batter that still tasted like old oil, same for the calamari. Chips were just soggy, no point getting them except that basic fish comes in a package deal. The fishos at Maroubra Junction are better but not by much, and the same price.

A very bad Fish chips and callamari Chips. Low quality, undercooked potatoes. We have been testing a lot of Fish Chips in Australia, and Barnacles is by far the worse. No reason to give it a try.

Low quality, undercooked and the best ..... NO SAUCE unless you pay 3 dollars extra ! Hahahha . See you never !
