Brasserie de Montbenon

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, which was once my favorite in Lausanne and which I had been recommending to everyone for years. I had heard from friends that the quality had dropped a lot, and unfortunately I saw it myself. Despite the idyllic setting, my last visit was a disaster from start to finish. First of all, the service poses a big organizational and management problem. The dishes were served to us even before our appetizer, and it was obvious that they had been reheated and were not fresh. I came to eat with a friend for the first time at 1:15 p.m. on the terrace because I had many comments, particularly from former employees, about the quality of the food and the service, but I might as well tell you that the service was more than pitiful and the word is weak. The waiter in green shorts took 20 minutes to take our order, we asked him for information about the dishes which was apparently too much because he blew it off with no explanation. We got the starters first before even getting the drinks. Avoid, the setting is magnificent, however the cuisine really leaves something to be desired, both in terms of quantity, quality and prices used. Despite having a starter and a main course each, we finished the meal feeling really hungry. The ingredients are quality, but the cuisine is really not extraordinary and in no way justifies the prices used. Too bad, another brasserie which has lost its identity and which claims to be gastronomic.

We had to wait around 30 minutes for a waiter to even vome to the table. After prdering 6 hot chocolates we waited another +20 minutes only to get some specialty chocolate that only tasted like cinnamon and milk. Afterwards we got to ask 6 times for the tab, overpriced and underwhelming experience. Pretty place though.

Cocktails and food were excellent. If you can, get a table on the terrace when it’s warm.
