The fish and chips and the burgers and side order of sweet potato fries seemed to come up okay, although it all took a long time arriving. The poached salmon salad with roasted heritage carrots and honey and lemon dressing was exceptionally poor however. For £15.50 you get a couple of handfuls of rocket with 1/2 a fillet of poached salmon springled with an incredibly oily dressing that lacked any flavour but oil. The most suprising thing is although the carrots are roasted and the salmon poached it is all freezing cold! Yes it is a salad but one expects from the description that it will be somewhat warm... cold roasted vegetables do not make a nice dish. This dish needs rethinking completely...
Service in the restaurant was very good no complaints, the wine is considerably over priced and the steak was the worst I have eaten in years, £36 for a 300g steak which was the quality of something you would expect in a low end pub made up of more fat than meat and equivalent of chewing a piece of chewing gum (furthermore it was not fresh, it seemed a defrosted steak and then cooked yielding a complete lack of flavour). Steakt back once, received another which was even worse quality than the first.
