Since my usual pho restaurant was closed for Chinese New Year. I decide to give this place a go. Ordered my special beef pho, rare beef pho, 2x count juices and some spring rolls as a starter. As we waited for our food to come out.. I noticed another group of customers - one lady was rubbing ice on the arm and thigh.. Not paying much attention as to why? I shortly found out the hard way. After our starter arrived not long after our hot phos were placed on our table... as we started placing our condiments into our pho. The table was jolted suddenly from a waiter cleaning the floor. You can only imagine how hot the broth from the bowl was when it hit my thigh and splashed onto my stomach... I...

The standout is the sheer size of portions and mountain of accompanying salad they serve with it. I asked for the spiciest which is called 'Bun Bo Hue' (spicy beef noodle) and asked them to leave off the blood jelly, im just not game enough yet. Very satisfying meal which i ordered with extra beef for a $2 surcharge.

I came here for the hype since i had heard many good things about their "Famous bun bo hue" but left really disappointed at the dish as it was lacking a lot of the lemongrass/chilli flavours. Overall i dont know why the bun bo hue is well known here and dont see the hype behind it. Not very friendly service either...

Dong ba is a small restaurant in bankstown but it's a very famous in this area. They make a nice spicy beef noodle soup. When I want to eat spicy noodle soup, I must go this place. And their staff are friendly too.
