For a joint meeting of friends from France and Germany we had searched for a halfway station. The reservation with the Hotel Eifelbräu was very quick and professional. Since we wanted to come in the afternoon, the lady's suggestion came on the phone to prepare some finger food and rolls in the kitchen as it is closed from 14:30. We then found, as we wished, a table suitable for our group size in a quiet corner of the guest room, which was otherwise completely empty. I was close to giving them one more star. Guesthaus feel and comfort with upscale hotel touches. Stayed here three nights, eating one dinner and three breakfasts. Great and historic facilities, but with modern upgrades. Room was attractive and comfortable, in-room shower was a bit small. Staff was very helpful and I appreciated English guide for guests. Seems family run and your bartender may also be waiting tables and checking in guests. We were there in late August 2018 for dinner and had the jagershnitzel. Very good meal. I look forward to our next visit to Bitburg. We lived in Matzen 42 years ago when I served at the air base. The town has not lost it's charm after all those years.
