Hoof Horn Steak House

if you have dined at the old Hoof and Horn (when owned by Jack Miller and then Roy Swope) you will recall the spinach salad, twice-baked potatoes, homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, and delicious steaks. if that is what you expect from the Hoof and Horn now………..you will be very disappointed. We went in tonight. Walked in with high expectations and walked out feeling a bit nauseous and $70 less in the pocket. The salad was so so. The twice baked was bad, not to mention very odd-looking. The steak tasted like it had been marinated in liquid smoke. We had to ask for rolls which were okay but certainly not homemade. The butter was real so that was a plus. We will not return but will still have fond...

Went there for a birthday dinner for my daughter. The spinach salads all came out good but the garden salads barely had lettuce. I very politely mentioned this to the server but she was very busy and I didn’t get a response. Several of our dinners came out cold. No lemon butter on 2 different salmon dinners.A child in our party didn’t get his food until everyone was almost done eating and only because his mother asked twice for it. I usually do not post negative reviews but it was very disappointing.

Good local place. Took several people from a local business here for lunch, very busy. Food was good and came out quickly considering the lunch crowd. Service was very good. Would be a great place for a quick lunch or to visit for dinner. Nice bar offerings, cold beer. If I were a local this would be a definite consideration for dinner.

4/22/23 Enjoyed a most excellent dinner of prime rib. Fantastic waitress. Comfortable clean family friendly atmosphere. Great bar serving Spot on libations. A to-go bread pudding with whiskey sauce was Delicious! This is a Must visit restaurant in St. Joseph. I will return to try more of the menu options.

Good food, service was a little slow but they were busy for a Wednesday. Pop was very flat, tea wasn't much better. Prime rib was amazing.
