"We walked from Grindelwald to Milchbach and were very thankful this place was there. We were able to use the washroom(free of charge) and also the lady working there gave us a brief history lesson on the area, the cable car and what next trail to take.Again, super thankful this place existed and was open, as the we had been walking 2.5+hours and soon needed a break."

Walked from Grindelwald to Milchbach on a sunny day, and was hoping to catch a beer at the top as our reward. I think as Deborah C stated, the reward was greater than we could have expected. While the place is definitely past it's prime, it's story is one of rich history. At Restaurant Milchbach, you will find the grandson of the the original owner still running the establishment. Though many may not know, in it's heyday it was one of THE places to be, being the ending spot of the first cable car in the world which functioned until World War I. While some may say it is "not up to standard", or "perfect Swiss decor" - possibly slow down, stop and consider where and what you are seeing, noting...

We hiked to Milchbach Restaurant from the cable car at Pfingstegg, but you can walk up to it from the Wetterhorn restaurant, where you walk back into a ravine where you see smooth cliff faces where the glacier used to come down to. The Milchbach restaurant is old and basic, but friendly and gives you the opportunity to rest for a bite to eat and a drink before you hike on. We hiked on the the higher glacier where one had to be very well kitted out for this breath taking climb. This is nothing for kids or people that are not experienced in climbing vertical ladders or walking on narrow ledges and across smooth rock - here you need to be hooked on. Unfortunately this climb is no longer accessi...

from the cable car in pfingstegg we hiked to the milchbach restaurant, but they can go to the Wetterhorn restaurant where they go back to a **** where they see smooth rock walls where the glacier came down earlier. the milk stream...restaurant is old and simple, but friendly and gives them the opportunity to eat for a bite and a drink before they wander. we migrated to the higher gletscher where you had to be very well for this breath. this is nothing for children or people who do not afford to climb vertical ladders or to foot on narrow and over smooth rocks here they must be attached. Unfortunately, this ascent is no longer accessible due to a landslide a few years back.
