Restaurant d'Etigny

Waiters immaculately attired in dinner jackets, highly attentive , a level of service increasingly difficult to find. My wife has had to spend 7 weeks at the nearby Hospital Re education centre, to provide some relief I have made the 3 hour round trip from our home to be with her on a couple of occasions. Our choice of the d'Etigny was initially influenced by the fact we could eat dinner on the terrace. This is a secluded area at the back of the hotel overlooking a small but colourful garden. We ate here one night while visiting Bagneres de Luchon, largely because nothing else was open (or else was a pizza shop, and one does not visit France for fast food! . But this was a wonderful experience. It is an old grand hotel, and still keeps some of those ancient traditions (ladies getting a menu without prices, for instance rather tiresome . But our waiter was, as stated, the world's best, and I only regret I didn't get his name so his boss would know. He was prompt, friendly, helpful, attentive, and invisible all at once. I took a group of 14 to the Pyrenees. This was a 3 nighter. I enquired at the local tourist info about eating and this was one of three restaurants that were recommended. We ate their first and third nights. second night we went to watch England rugby or we may have eaten their then too. Staff were excellent, restaurant was very nice, food choice was good, set menu excellent, price well worthy. I will use this hotel and restaurant again.

Very clean, bathroom on the small side. Bed was so comfortable. Staff so friendly and helpful.The daughter so charming and happy. We will go there again

Nice place to have good traditional French food in a romantic atmosphere near the main promenade and the old elegant 18th century buildings
