The Anglers Retreat

I chose this restaurant based on its reviews and location. I easily booked a room online for £115 for the night (double en suite). Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown to our room, which was spacious and had an excellent shower room. The fridge in the room was stocked with milk and orange juice, and a continental breakfast was included. The room was clean and quiet, set back from the road. The reception area in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. We dined in the bar and ordered food and drinks, which were delicious. We also enjoyed the 'open mike night'. Parking is available for both pub guests and staying guests. If you're looking for a unique pub with comfortable accommodations...

I’m an infrequent visitor to this pub (about three or four times a year when passing through on my narrowboat. I love it. The staff (and locals are friendly and welcoming. The beer is kept well. I was disappointed that they were not serving food on a Wednesday evening. Having said that they provided me with a takeaway menu for an Indian restaurant which they recommended and provided me with a plate to eat from. Smashing. Thanks will see you next time I pass through.

Upon entering The Anglers Retreat, I was immediately impressed by the pub and its staff. My room was spotless and the atmosphere was welcoming. The bar was bustling with activity, and the music event featuring The Roberts Family Band and other artists was fantastic. The buffet provided was superb. Many patrons suggested trying the Sunday lunch, but I had to leave after breakfast. Overall, I had a great stay and thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

We stopped off at this pub and ordered cheese burger and chips. After a 40 minute wait (we had to ask where our food was) it turned up. The burger was tasteless and fatty and the chips weren’t particularly hot. We certainly won’t be visiting again.
