I met a friend here on my first trip to winchester. in truth, I killed time waiting for a bus (there is only so much time that they can pour in the guildhall and cathedrale in their purple spots, is not because I was underwhelmed elsewhere, but was thrilled by this pub. I suggest that...others should see for themselves what it is doing, but so many other city pubs are not. not only is it hidden with sweat and love to detail, but it demands its customers to increase their game accordingly. the Dram bottles hanging on the deck were particularly impressive, doubled as festive decoration and reflect the flames from the toasty log fire. best was the pint I had, just one of the best I had in years: fully flavored, well balanced and so easy on the b...

I was in some quirky pubs in my time, but this is the most quirkies by far. from the menagerie of the stuffed animals to the imaginative tables and the collections of the left behind objects arranged in groups, they spend most of the time just looking around....We have changed the sitting times as we have found other areas better than the previous ones! the service was also quirky. I was offered a very nice one with the explanation that it is a strange gin. it wasn't, it was just not gordons, but it was very nice. a really funny place to get some time away.

Nothing prepares you for the wonderful interior of the Black Boy. Can't even begin to describe it so you'll just have to visit to see for yourself, but it is unlike anything you've seen before (let's just say doors on the ceiling, a giraffe, big...metal safes, a stuffed sealion.... Good choice of mainstream and local brewery beers, friendly staff and comfortable seating. What's not to like?

I love this pub and it's quirkiness, we've been for years, but why did it stop eating? I once loved a suppe and sandwich too. Come on!
