The Spread Eagle - Reservar uma mesa

The place is very nice, select, the staff is ok! We served fish and chips but it was not what we expected! First of all, the fish was not cod, the crust of the fish was a little raw on the inside, the crushed peas had too many herbs, the sauce had too much vinegar! Compared to another restaurant where I served the same food but at a price 2 times lower...it was not excellent at all, it was much better at George's! Maybe other types of food are better...that's all we tried!

The change of ownership has done nothing to diminish the quality of the pub. It retains all the fine woodwork, a good selection of quality beer, and a decent menu of typical pub food. There are few enough pubs in the centre of Croydon these days, and even fewer good ones. The Spread Eagle is both relaxed charming, retaining the spirit of the old bank of its early days, with beer food at a reasonable price. It's my goto place when I need a good pint.

Excellent atmosphere. Very nice, approachable and profesional staff. The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The pub to go to in Croydon if you want to experience real pub atmosphere and cosy traditional pub interior.

Good food and selection of drinks with plenty of t.v's for watching sports. Also have a brilliant guiness printer which allows you to put pictures on your pint.
