"I have been a fan of this restaurant for many years and this was my first visit since the onset of COVID last year. The ambiance and overall impression remains but some things need attention: Service; the garden area was full, inside virtually empty. Let’s say the restaurant was half to two thirds full. There were plenty of friendly staff. Service was, overall, verging on unacceptable…after a couple of glasses of wine our mood changed from irritation to comedic neither a good comment in this respect. We were asked. 3 times by different members of what should have been the service team, what would we like to order! Each approach was made with specials board presented and order notebook in hand! Nevertheless we waited more than 10 to 15 minutes for our first drink water) to be delivered. We had ordered food on the first visit of the team. The starters arrived in good order but the main course Food did not appear for some time, a member of the team came back to check that the order he had taken 30 minutes earlier was correct. Around 15 minutes later two plates of the widschwein ragout and spaghetti were delivered and my partner and I watched our friends begin their meal. After 5 minutes I asked where our main course was and was told ‘it’s coming’, it didn’t for another 5 minutes. the food was tasty and simple. With all the waiting, I had time to read the place setting menu card at length, I noticed that the melon and Parma ham starter was priced at over €16 per portion. Because COVID has forced me to cook much more than usual I thought that this was an interesting price for such a simple starter. Observing my friends and their Wildschwein ragout, I felt this was basically a spaghetti Bolognese yes, I know the cries that this will engender, but that’s what it was) for over € 25 a portion. Even allowing for the restaurant oncosts My feeling is that this menu is severely overpriced for what is simple food. This is no longer a top end restaurant for fine dining. I’m afraid the restaurant has shifted from fine dining to overpriced normality. Add to this the chaotic service and it becomes a challenge to continue my patronage."
