So we knew going on a Friday night it would be loud, busy and take time for food. What we were not expecting was the (very small) pub to have the live music have their volume at top sound. This is a small pub and granted extra noise from people talking, playing pool etc but this was just too much. So the food was not timed right we had nachos for the table to share and then our individual meals. The nachos came with the meals and they were cold, the sour cream I could not eat as it had a tangy taste to it. My poutine was cold in the middle and all they did was add the hot gravy on top, my husbands steak and shrimp was not what was expected for $24.99. Again we knew it would be busy but why l...
We arrived on a sunny afternoon - famished. Entering this historic pub, we heard live music and located the source outside on the patio, so of course that's where we wanted to sit. Found a table and ordered hamburgers which were huge and mighty tasty. The music added to our enjoyment of the meal and watching all that was going on around us. This seems to be a community gathering place, so there were children playing games, a dog or two and lots of visiting between tables. The pub was just short of our destination, so we felt free to linger awhile and enjoy.
If you want the warmth of the locals and the relaxed feel of putting your feet up and having a pint with great food this is the must visit place! Take in a outdoor game of pool (another pool table inside as well) or sit around the firepit or just hang by the locally handcrafted log tables on the deck. Located roadside with the Adrena LINE Zipline ending in the back yard makes for some interesting times. Local bands are well attended; so make reservations! You will leave here fulfilled on so many levels! Try one of the house specials under Wicked Burgers!
We are from out of town and wanted to try something different. This came up as a cool place to visit. I like old like restaurants and since they say it's haunted I'm like I got to go.I had a hamburger, fries and tried chicken wings. The beer from Victoria was awesome. Love this place. Great food, friendly service and fantastic setting. Had fish and chips with a Guiness. Fast service in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Outside pool table, volleyball, beautiful wooden furniture. Waitress that was so friendly. Food well worth the money. Have been here a couple years back and it still is fantastic.
Good pub with horrible access. Right on the Sooke Highway between two blind corners. Food is typical for a good pub. Nice outside patio area when the weather is nice. Well stocked liquor and beer store next door. Also jump off point for rain forest zip line operation.
