We got the impression that the owner of this restaurant is mainly interested in quickly making money, and not so much in offering the guests a pleasant time. The service was hasty, formal, even a bit indifferent. Almost all of the guests are tourists here. They are told there is a free table, but only until a certain time; After that time, the table would be reserved. Would be, because in reality Joao doesn 't actually accept any table reservations in advance. This way, the restaurant gets to serve more people in one night, and thus make more profit a day. The food is okay, but not incredible. The prices however are rather high in comparisson to similar restaurants in town. Some 'budget-solu...
Nós visitamos aqui no início de janeiro, quando muitos restaurantes foram fechados para uma pausa bem esperada. Estamos felizes. O menu é pequeno, mas escolha. O cozinheiro do proprietário escolhe ingredientes de boa qualidade e prepara-os com cuidado. O menu de inverno incluiu um delicioso prato de bolo de porco assado e uma tortilla fabulosa. O queijo e o pão também estavam fora. É um grande valor com muito bom vinho por apenas €14 uma garrafa. A atmosfera é muito refrigerada e o proprietário é amigável e definitivamente não insano. Quando pedimos recomendações de vinho, por exemplo, ele não se voltou para o mais caro. Um pequeno lugar muito especial. Muito recomendado.
We visited here in early January when many restaurants were closed for a well earned break. We're glad we did. The menu is small but select. The owner -chef selects really great quality ingredients and prepares them with care. The winter menu included a delicious braised pig cheek dish and a fabulous tortilla. The cheese and bread were standout too. It's great value with very good wine available for just €14 a bottle. The atmosphere is very chilled and the owner is friendly and definitely not pushy. When we asked for wine recommendations he didn't steer towards the most expensive for example. A really special little place. Highly recommended.
Belo lugar e bom negócio com o dono. Fomos jantar para as fotos dos pratos que estavam no TripAdvisor. A carta não tem nada a ver com isso. O dono disse-nos para mudar a carta. O proprietário era um garçom e um cozinheiro ao mesmo tempo. Os pratos quentes eram todos os guisados servidos em uma tigela. Foi como comer na casa da avó que tem comida ou salada. Obviamente reaqueceram. Resumindo: Comida e preparação sem preparação no momento do zero. Os segundos não são pratos para um jantar. Muito pequenas quantidades. Tudo era bom, mas não surpreendente. We ate here twice in our eight-day holiday in Faro. It was the most authentic tasca we found in this town. Joao is an amiable guy who makes you feel at home. He plays pleasant music – not pop, not musak. It is a cosy, hideaway, sort of place and it looks and feels authentic, both from the outside an inside. The decoration is simple but pleasant. It is the kind of place a local might frequent and where you have a good chance of not find yourself sitting near boorish sunseekers. The food was excellent and the chilled vinho verde was terrific.
Visited this delightful tapas restaurant after a recommendation from our hotel. Very small venue only seating about 12 customers in the back. We had bread and olives with olive oil and balsamic, manchego cheese, salt cod on toast topped with coriander, and amazing duck stew with vegetable crisps. All very tasty accompanied by a glass of wine each. Mine host was delightful and helpful. The whole evening was topped off by jazz music playing in the background. All for just under £30.
Absolutely lovely! We started with the couvert that had bread, olives and a red sauce and olive oil. Our absolute favorite was the tuna with mustard and the cod with cilantro! Divine! The ambience is also super nice, sitting down under the trees in a lovely square with a fountain.
