This restaurant features top-notch charcoal grills that produce incredibly tender, juicy, and flavorful meats. It is without a doubt the best grill spot in Melbourne. The bread served here is also exceptional, unbelievably fresh and delicious. The service is quick, the premises are clean, and the prices are very reasonable. It is one of our favorite places to dine in Melbourne. Disregard the 1-star rating, it is unjustified to rate so low just for a slight wait. We had a family dinner there last night ( Sunday), it was very busy, we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get our meal, the waitress has told about the wait, no worries. They sell hand slaughtered chicken, that's a bonus for diners who wanted 100% halal option. We have ordered Jijo Kebab, Tikka Kebab and Kabuli Palov with Kebab. Jijo kebab was nice but the other items were below average. Surprisingly they don't provide tap waste for drinking due council restrictions, I have found false and misleading, if their water is not safe from drinking then which water are they using for cooking? This is a kebab spot, so be prepared to choose from a range of kebab styles. Your kebab will arrive with a spot of salad, a wheel (and I mean a wheel) of the most fabulous fluffy and crispy bread and little tubs of sour yogurt and another greenish dip that was very fiery. The rice is lovely ('velvety' said my daughter). Everything was served quickly and our chance was brought to us on a silver tray with a flourish. The decor is cafe style; the food is the thing here. Opposite is a fabulous fruit and grocery shop with aisles full of treats from all over the world - definitely stop in there if your tastes are far-reaching :)
The mixed grill kebabs is a definite go to! My partner and I both big eaters but ordering one mixed grill with an extra bread was more than enough for us to share! But what is really impressive is the Afghan bread that is HUGE and only $1 per every extra piece. Perfectly made with a crunchy exterior and soft interior! Also don’t forget to pick up some baklava on the way out for only $1 a piece as well! Will be back if I’m in Sunshine again, we found the service from the Afghan female staff really friendly
This place was recommended to us by my officemate and it did not disappoint. We went there for dinner on a Saturday night. The large Afghani bread was freshly baked and I finished off two. The food is so tasty and the service was good. It is well lit and families were mostly the customers at that time. The dips were great too. It was also not too pricey. Will definitely go back to this place and tell my friends.
