"We've tried Anis et Marjolaine a number of times now, and are yet to be disappointed. Very relaxed ambience with a regularly changing menu that offers enough variety for everyone even our picky 14 year old son. Alvaro is a warm and friendly host/chef/owner who makes every meal to order. Your visit will take a bit longer than most restaurants, but you won't regret it."

Slow service. I'll repeat it, slow service. In fact, there was only one person serving. Original bread plates never picked up. They were left on my table until the end of the night. All in all, the meal took 2.5 hours, 15 minutes of that was used to eat. The music was nice. Dirty utensil. The lobster bisque had a dirty spoon and the waitress was nowhere to be found. Luckily, the bisque was served in a tea cup. Entree, lobster bisque has a strong smell and taste of old fish, comes with burned puff pastry stick. Asparagus in jelly. Very cold and No taste. Salad, good but pine nut not roasted. Risotto, nice presentation, mild taste but good. Filet of beef, i liked that the plate was very hot an...

I was invited to a family reunion with a few friends and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The presentation of the food was impeccable, with the soup served in a proper soup plate rather than a tea bowl, and everything was exceptionally clean. We started with a delicious white asparagus with béarnaise sauce, perfectly cooked and sourced from Uruguay due to the difficulty of finding them locally at this time of year. Our main course was a scrumptious canard confit with orange sauce, mashed potatoes, and roasted beetroots with celery root puree. To top it off, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent croque en buche, which was the best I've had in Montreal. While I don'...

Our regular weekend dining haunt when can't be bother to cook. Alvaro produces delicious dishes, often with a little twist some particular herb, spice or accompaniment. His smoked salmon and his mushroom tartines are must haves and the soups are always interesting beetroot is superb. Always a variety of dishes fish or meats. Small but very individual wine selection at great prices and all available by the glass!! wonderful baked goods available as well as some excellent deserts. There are also occasional special nights with a set menu such as the exceptional maple evening. Many visits as a couple and with friends, everyone we have every brought here has loved it. Should always be full but lu...

I recommended that they use their kitchen fan and consider installing a door between the kitchen and dining area to prevent the odors from spreading. If this issue is not addressed, I will not be returning. Additionally, it was evident that many dishes were prepared in advance. When I requested steamed vegetables, I was informed that they were already cooked and therefore unavailable.
