"We had lunch there on a Sunday. The place has charm and is only a few km from the A10 highway. The starters and main dish were very good, the deserts a bit less impressive. Service was painfully slow, however."

We timed our journey to have lunch somewhere just North of Bordeaux and this is what we found! A fascinating setting, a welcoming patronne, helpful waiting, and above all, wonderful food and drink. Outside on a bright pink table the starters of oysters and prawn salads were just a tempting beginning. The three of us enjoyed beautifully cooked fish with excellent vegetables. Rounded off with “fraises nature” and one of the most delicious creme brûlée’s we have ever tasted (see other reviews too). The “vin du coin”, a Sauvignon, was a perfect compliment to our meal. We could not have had a more successful pause on our journey.

A trip to North Gironde, near Blaye (20mn) should take you to that address. Located 5mn away from highway, in the village of Marcillac (33), this restaurant served gem food at affordable price Euro 25 for three course menu. Goat cheese salad, fresh oysters, duck magret, and 6/7 choices of fresh desserts, in a casual terrace. We even spotted a small baby deer, walking around. Really nice also to taste the local terroir of Vignerons Tutiac Rose wine. Tutiac is a large cooperative of winemaker, located in Marcillac village. We got to know they export wines to USA and China, all from that little village.

We came across this restaurant by chance on a drive around the area. It was a hot day and we sat out the back on the terrace, which was the most perfect setting. We all ate off the set menu which was incredibly good value and every dish was lovely. If you're close to this restaurant then please go...

Definitely worth the long drive if you’re around Bordeaux Cognac. Beautifully decorated and restored windmill and best of all an excellent dinner awaited us after having travelled from La Rochelle. The hostess is a very good cook as well as the suggested menus.
