Valros is a peaceful village sitting on the old road between the towns of Pezenas and Beziers. At the western edge of Pezenas there is a roundabout presenting travellers with the choice of taking the A75 highway quickly and, without any distraction, directly to Beziers and beyond. My advice is take the old road instead; take your time, pass through Valros and stop at the Auberge de la Tour for lunch or dinner or even for a night or two. Valros itself nestles in the heart of Herault's wine country and is surrounded by gently rolling countryside that is absolutely covered in vineyards and illuminated by the most beautiful Mediterranean summer light. Had a lovely lunch here yesterday. The courses are presented well and appealing to the eye. Everything is fresh, of good quality and is cooked with a light hand. The sauces are delicious. Excellent value for €22. The advice on wine was very informative and led to a good choice. The room is light and fresh, the tables well placed and have proper cloths. Good service, super chef, relaxing ambience, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended.
Situated in the charming low-key and typically French village of Montblanc, this restaurant has an understated exterior, belying our whole, very pleasant experience. We dined on a tiled terrace, under the shade of venerable plane trees, by a quiet road, punctuated by the passage of a small number of intermittent boy racers. Food and service excellent. Value for money outstanding. We will return before we go home on Sunday.
Last reviewed this restaurant in 2015. Have to say it has got even better. The ambiance is now good, whereas before I felt it lacked something. Service impeccable.The food was absolutely first class, cooked to perfection and full of interesting ingredients which gave it a flavour hard to find in this neck of the woods. Had riz de l'agneau with saute of mushrooms. Quite delicious.
