Auberge le Chapeau Rouge

This is a delightful restaurant with a warm ambiance serving traditional Perigourdian fare situated right in the centre of St Astier. It's run by the owners, Bernard Floriane Bonis, from whom I received a very warm welcome. I had the €13 lunch menu of the day: Soup, smoked salmon salad starter, roast chicken leg (fish alternative available) with vegetables for main and I finished with home made apple tart from the dessert choice. I'm allergic to mushrooms, they had no problem in preparing me the sauce without mushrooms which demonstrated their willingness to put the customer first and was indicative of the freshness of the food. A glass of reasonable wine for a couple of extra Euros complime...

We visited this restaurant a few times while staying in the Dordogne (Coursac), both for lunch and for dinner and it is always a pleasure. The hostess Floriane (owner) is very friendly and entertaining (english speaking), while her husband (the chef) creates delicious Cuisine de Tradition . For example the Salade Chapeau Rouge is highly recommended. If you choose a menu the prices are friendly in relation to the quality. Lunch or dinner outside in the warmer months is a pleasure. The interior of the restaurant may not be very cosy, but all is forgotten by the delicious food and friendly staff. There 's one Pomerol on the wine-menu (I forgot the Chateau, but it is around 28, per bottle) that...

Un endroit convivial ou l'on mange de bons plats et c'est pas trop cher. Le personnel est très agréable.Le restaurant prend des aliments de qualité et il y a beaucoup de fait maison dont les frites par exemple.Petit bémol, il manque une petite touche de rénovation histoire de mettre au goût du jour. En bref je recommande.

Tout pourrai être bien mais il manque quelque chose. je vais dans cette établissement a chaque fois que je descends à Saint Astier ce fut très bien puis bien puis assez bien et là c'est la descente...
