After booking a table for 2 , found ourselves greeted , seated and fed within the hour; The warm welcome with orders taken efficiently was relaxing and we were able to watch the chef prepare our and others meals in front of us) . We had the ardoise de charcuteries a slate plate covered in local preserved meats, shared between the two of us ,followed by Magret de canard served with home produced frites/ chips and washed down by a 1/2 pichet small jug of local wine) . all very efficient and above all tasty. Hello, Im new in Bayonne and use this site to find the good stuff, as I've done everywhere I go. We choosed Bakera for lunch (12th august) and I will not be back again. This is the 1st time the reviews were very far from what I found the place to be. We were seated on the large table by the kitchen, and the service was terrible, after 10 minutes I decided to take a picture of the menu board outside because the waiter didnt bring us the menus, courtesy water came about 10 minutes later (20 total) and the food almost 50 minutes since we seated. We went in Bakera based on TA reviews. We were not disappointed; on the contrary. Excellent food... not much choice but usually a small choice means good quality. I had the fish of the day which was superb and fresh from the sea. The offer a set of different salt types to accompany the meals. Wow. We definitely recommend. If you are in the region. Try it. You'll love it...
Wonderful dinner off the river bank... Had the burger (back, cheese du bebris, pomme frites and salad) and the merluza suggestion (hake) grilled with small potatoes in an olive oil and garlic sauce... Both were prepared just right for us, delicious! Had the chocolate fondant for dessert...nice anglais sauce! Good quality, service and value!
