Driving 30 minutes from Egg to the restaurant 'Kanisfluh Berghaus" which locats just near the famous rocky mountain Kanisfluh turned a very nice lunch. Vist [email protected] The view is wonderul facing the big rock wall of Kanisfluh. And we enjoyed the local food and the big ice cream. It was in the middle of March, still lots of snow but the terras was sunny and warm. Several local couples were there sitting n enjoying Austrian luch. Schnitzel was good. The pork steak with mashroom cream sauce was just fine. The cooked beef with apple cream with horse radish was the best which was recommended by the staff. This was one of the best lunch in Austria. We arrived, in town at about 7:45 PM and needed to get some dinner. We thought that we would have to drive back to the neighboring city that was bigger, but. The Owner of Haus Feuerstein suggested we try Kanisfluh Berghaus which was at the top of the mountain that overlooks the community, but they closed at 8 PM so we would have to hurry.We made it to the top at about 7:55 and the staff seemed genuinely excited that we had come for dinner. The portions were very large, but reasonable priced and the views from inside and outside are amazing. If you are in the area it is definitely worth the drive up the mountain to grab a bite to eat.
We were the first time in this Berghaus which consists of a hotel and a traditional restaurant. The owners and the service were very friendly. The place was rather busy and we were the only foreigners. The two of us each enjoyed a Wienerschnitzel with French fries and a mixed salad. All good quality and honest food at a great price. The restaurant is a casual sit down service with views to the valley and the almost monumental Kanisfluh mountain on the other side. The final bit of the road which leads to the restaurant is narrow and in parts one lane only. However, it is worth the trip if you are in the area.
Regular visitors to Austria and this restaurant always figures in our plans for eating out. Very friendly staff. Great menu selection and very willing to help out with special dietary requirements. Visited now every years for the past five - six years. Always consistently high standards.Well priced offering excellent value for money. Can be difficult to get to in the winter as the access roads especially from Schnepfau is narrow and steep. Not for the faint hearted
