We went to the restaurant for a founde and a vegetarian burger. We were quickly served by the waiters with the drinks however the waiting time for food was over an hour. The waiters were running around like crazy, no one knew what we ordered, how much longer will it take and no one came to our table in an hour even though we were trying to get their attention. I had to talk to manager asking about status of our order to eventually get the food. When it arrived it turned out that we got beef burger instead of the vegetarian one and the waiter wasn’t even sure about what he has just served. The food was ok however the cheese could have had more taste. Will not recommend to come unless you have...
The weather was great and the terrace of the newly opened Eggli restaurant is south facing so the location is hard to beat. Being the first day of the season 18/12, the placed was full so we booked 11:30. That was smart because we got our food relatively fast. After that it was downhill: poor service, extremely long waiting times, waiters who didn’t know the menu and very impersonal. The restaurant needs to dramatically improve the service to defend the price level. “Preis/Leistung” is just not there!
Newly reconstructed and re-opened after two years, and it looks like an airport departure lounge restaurant. While there was scope for smartening up the old restaurant and pushing it upmarket, the result is boring, anonymous and utterly without mountain charm . On the plus side, the food was good and the service was impeccable. The owners need to redecorate the place asap.. Model it on the fromagerie in the Palace and you won’t go too far wrong.
