Berkelouw Hornsby Bookshop Cafe

Yes, it has a different vibe, but the outpost at Westfield Hornsby still has books and food, although no kitchen... you can sit in armchairs and read while sipping a coffee, or, as I did, chowing down on a piece of cake. The cake selection was pretty good, with several full-sized cakes for slices and a range of cookies and smaller treats. I went for the apple flan, which had a beautiful almond cake underneath the layers of apple doused in that scrumptious sweet glaze that makes cakes shiny and delicious.

A café and a bookstore all in one is a nice combination. Berkelouw have been around Sydney for ages and this quaint venue sprawls along a walkway outside their book store inside Westfield Hornsby. This was a quick solo visit so the perusing of lengthy books sadly wasn’t on the agenda. The mandatory coffee arrived quite quickly actually and tasted good too. It’s always good when the wait is short and the coffee is hot and strong!

Not a bad choice for tea, coffee, and cake. The books are a bit in the high price side but there aren't many options around for people looking for the old school paper option. Grab a seat outside on the overhead bridge and relax and people watch. Unlike other cafes in Westfield with chairs out in the common area, the shoppers don't congregate here.

There is no competition in Westfield Hornsby so this wins hands down. Good coffee and atmosphere but very average staff.
