Bhagya 's Kitchen is a well run Indian takeout in Wyndmoor right outside of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia. The specialty here def seems to be the varied South Indian cuisine. Dishes are prepared and cooked and then stored in a refrigerated unit for you to take out and then warm up at home. I think their samosas are especially tasty. They are ample in size and filled with a well crafted mixture one vegetarian and the other involving meat. For my entree I decided on the South Indian dish called Kheema Matar (here they spell the last word as 'mutter ' . This ground lamb and pea dish was also nicely done and I ate it on a bed of rice. I live in the area and drive by this place often. Today I was hungry and decided to stop in. Parking: limited street parking with a lot next to the location. Atmosphere: Small take away to warm up. They had a few high top tables and a microwave so I guess you can sit in and eat. Service: The counter guy was pleasant. Food: chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. The chicken was tinder and ok. The rice was good. Meat samosa which had lamb and peas in it. No taste at all. I threw it away. I believe the side for the samosa was tamarind chutney. This place, hands down has been my favorite spot for Indian for YEARS. I really cannot believe how anyone could go anywhere else. They are the nicest, kindest people I 've ever met. I recently was unable to get out due to a medical sitch and despite the fact that they do not have delivery service currently, John went out of his way to make sure I some how got my comfort food during a trying time. I cannot emphasize enough how good it is. My recommended go to would be the Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Navratna Korma and their coriander chutney is the most delicious I 've ever had. I 've lived in NYC, eaten Indian in London to San Fran and John et. al. 's food is some of my favorite.

We have 2 Indian restaurants within walking distance from us, so we never ventured to Bhagya's until yesterday for the first time. Delicious food, impeccable flavors, and great carry out service. We are vegetarian and appreciated the delicious variation in offerings. Will definitely go here again.
