Black Bear Neighbourhood Pub

We have been to the Black Bear a good number of times over the years and usually found it to be quite satisfactory - today, Remembrance Day, was different - they were quite busy and I think understaffed for the amount of patrons - two of our three brunch meals were awful and we had to return one - the omelette - which was burnt and totally greasy- on the other 'dud", the ham was luke warm at best, certainly not hot - and would have been returned if the meat was other than precooked - service was responsive, but slow - while the omelette was replaced with an alternate dish, our meal became a discussion about the food and service, as opposed to what we went there for - I always feel that estab...

Four of us dropped by on a hot afternoon and luckily snagged a table on the patio. Now it's not the best patio as it looks onto a parking lot and shopping centre, but it's quiet because of the glass and cool because it's not totally enclosed. Two of us opted for the stuffed avocado salad which was tasty and fresh, while the other two tried hot items. Their portions were generous and tasty. Service was attentive and friendly, and they have a good selection of beers and mixed drinks. Beware of the desserts - they are huge, and while the "cheesecake" was tasty it was more on the cake side! Will definitely return.

A large group of us were going to the Brown's in Lynn Valley but they had no room for 14 of us. We walked over to Black Bear and I must say I wasn't looking forward to it. I found on the menu there were a few options I could have with my dietary restrictions and I actually enjoyed them quite a lot. Our service could have been faster at the beginning but our meals didn't take too long to arrive and she was prompt with the bill payment. I think it's hard to please so many people but we all left full and happy.

This pub had some of the best pub food going anywhere but 3 months ago lost their chef. Now the food is MEH. Gone are the daily fresh sheets, the food has lost its quality. There is still one or two good things on the menu but even the Mac & Cheese and Nachos are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Too bad as we were regulars. Still awesome service but the wait staff seem embarrassed by having to explain the change. Reserve uma mesa agora

We visited the Black Bear with friends & very much enjoyed the experience. The pub was fairly busy but we were seated & served promptly. Our server was friendly & efficient, both with the food & drinks & as a photographer!The pub serves an excellent range of craft beers & I particularly enjoyed its own distinctive ale. All of our meals were good & the steaks were exceptional, both tender & served exactly as ordered.

This has been a great place to eat. The food has always been consistently good. The atmosphere and service are great.My favorite hamburger, the 'Matterhorn' will no longer be on the new menu. Instead, it will be replaced with a newly named (hopefully as good or better) burger. We will definitely come back to try it out. Good luck with the new menu.

Had lunch here recently. The lunch was ok. One person had the quesadillas which they felt were bland not up to the usual quality. Another had the club sandwich which was rated as ordinary. I had an omelete which was good. Service was average as well. Not up to their usual service or quality. However, will be back.

First time here and we had some appys to share and some drinks. Service was good and so was the food. The bar itself is very nice inside and there is plenty of seating. There is lots of parking available which is a bonus in North Van. Looking forward to returning. Reserve uma mesa agora

3:00-5:00 wing deal - wings are perfect to my taste, cooked to the bone crispy on the outside with the hot sauce cooked into the skin, not messy . Beer clean fresh taste perfect on a hot summers day Grandville Island lions summer ale great beer

Use to go to this place when lived closer they have very good food and the ambiance is great . If your going for the Hockey game to watch or a romantic evening out both and all good. Great place
