We went to the Boot Slipper with our elderly mothers for lunch and was greeted by Luke who kindly found a quiet table with easy access. He was very helpful when choosing our order and as our mothers don’t have big appetites said they could have a child’s portion which was just perfect! Perhaps this could be rebranded as something for those of you who have a small appetite- applicable to young and old? We had the roast beef and pork both of which were delicious followed by the peach crumble and coffee and a small dessert, again delicious. The Boot and Slipper is a chain-style pub that offers fast and friendly service. The staff are efficient, despite the busy atmosphere, and they even recommended a nearby budget-friendly option. The establishment is well-maintained, with clean toilets and a tidy overall appearance. The prices are on the higher side, but the food is good value and served in generous portions. The addition of a cigarette machine post-smoking ban is a unique touch. With ample parking and a pleasant beer garden, it's a nice spot to visit in the summer.

This restaurant is part of the Chef and Brewer chain. I have visited other locations in the chain and unfortunately, I do not find this one as good as the others. The menu is pretty standard and similar to the others I have been to. The quality of the food has been inconsistent for me, but the burgers are decent. The desserts have been a bit disappointing, especially the rhubarb crumble which had more custard than crumble. However, the two-course menu for £10 is good value for the money.

Lovely gastro pub with generous portion sizes and helpful serving staff. We were served by Luke who gave us a great recommendation for their lamb shank shepherd's pie.
