Our Christmas celebration took place this year at the Radiation Castle in Schriesheim, which is located just outside Schriesheim up in the forest. We were greeted with Sweden fire in the courtyard of the castle. Also the view over the Rhine plain at night, among us the illuminated sea of houses unpaid. The company had booked one of the adjoining rooms, which was also accessible separately via a side entrance and had access to the courtyard of the castle. A good menue should salute us for the next hours and tune us to the upcoming Christmas season. I try to come to Schriesheim every year as my family and my schoolmates are here. A trip to the Radiation Castle is a must. Finally I played hide-and-seek there, climbed to the top of holding and celebrated in later years New Years. The view from the large terrace, on which the local wine tastes twice as well, in the Rhine apartments, is not breathtaking. Immediately in front of the terrace is the Kuhberg, probably the best vineyard in the area and below the picturesque town of Schriesheim. The first problem is to reach the place. We drove there with both Google Maps and the Waze application (highly recommended, by the way). The road just below the castle was blocked, so we had some hard time to navigate through the instinct to the square. Once reached – the view was worth waiting. A magnificent view of the whole area. The food itself was pretty good. We reached during the “Asparagus season” so Spargel was a main ingredient in most dishes. Most of the dinner attendees reported they enjoyed their dish, and the service was also decent.

We enjoyed a nice lunch with wonderful views of Mannheim and Pfälzerwald. Service was excellent. Sausage salad was above expectations and French Fries fresh and tasty. The apple cake crispy and cream was delicious. Again and again in summer when we can enjoy the walk through the vineyards

Not to have the culinary experience of your life. It has fantastic views over the valley. The restaurant has a beautiful old fashion charm from the 60ies in a way. We were there for coffee and cake. Maybe a light snack. Again this is part of the Fortress Sightseeing experience.
