We were staying in Bidegoian, near Tolosa and decided to go there for lunch. First off,Tolosa is a lovely old town and it is worth exploring before, or after, settling down to a delicious, long lunch at Burruntzi. I had originally planned on having fish, knowing that my dining companion was more minded to meat, but the way the menu works is that fish is served for a minimum of two persons. Given that we both really wanted to drink red wine, we opted for steak instead. If you want steak, the only cut that is served is chuleton, which is like a giant beef chop, sliced off the rib. It is priced by the kilo and the piece we had, just over a kilo, was more than enough for two. It was beautifully...

This is one of the best parrillas in town, where Casa Julian and Casa Nicolas are the famous ones. Burruntzi has been a great surprise. Better that what I remember from my previos experience in the most famous ones. So, of course you have to try the cow rib with small red peppers cooked in the oven. Unforgettable!!! Good express coffee and lovely thin cookies home made. Try the cheese and marmalade....

Still enjoying the pics when I see them after a month;this was absolutely the best meat I ever had and being a real meat lover I have quite some experience! The red pimentos were so tastefull, the wine excellent and the service perfect! Don t miss this restaurant if you are in northern spain, worth driving 200 miles for! I am already looking forward to my visit next year!

It has been as usual a marvelous experience where you can eat only few things but all are excellent. Personally I love the head of hake and a txuleton (T-bone) with red pepper it is amazing. Service is traditional and friendly
