Cafe-Bistro Schiffsteg Maennedorf

One of the few places to eat that are right on the water's edge of Lake Zurich. The bistro is not much more than a kiosk with tables and chairs arranged along the lake. A great place for a drink or to have something small...to eat. There are chandeliers strung between the trees which is a nice touch once the sun sets. But during the long balmy summer days, the trees also deliver lots of welcome shade. We decided to give this place a try as as we were in the area.The staff have no idea of customer service at all! The first waiter said he was unable to take orders but failed to tell the waitress we were waiting for service.She...was serving everyone but us so we walked out. In the current economical climate with Tourism struggling,places like this can easily go out of business and deservedly so if they treat their customers like this. Do not bother eating here

This used to be quite a unique destination, but since it was taken over a couple of years ago, it has progressively gone downhill. The service staff, in particular the female Maitre D, are unfriendly and inefficient. We called in today for drinks. We had...to ask for our order several tines and waited more than minutes for our bill. It's a great shame that such a great location is being undermined by indifferent and arrogant service

This little place is in a fantastic location like so many others along the lake. Unfortunately they have a small kitchen and therefore small selection of items in the menu. Would be nice to have pies or cakes with coffee in the afternoons but unfortunately...not the case. We would certainly come more often if the selection was greater . Service is ok and staff is friendly

For a visitor to Switzerland, the food prices often seem high but we were shocked at the prices here. Terrific location and view. Skipped the food and order a drink and enjoy the setting
