Campanile Dunkerque Sud-Loon Plage Restaurant

Stayed at the Campanile somewhat unusually as we usually use the Première Classe for cheapness for a one night stay before catching a DFDS ferry back to Dover but having their loyalty membership I noticed that the Campanile price for a much better room than at their budget hotel next door wasn 't much more. As I was staying in the Campanile I thought that, rather than going across the road to the Loon Garden (once the Poivre Rouge) our preferred eaterie now that the new(ish) Chinese owners appear to have ruined Campanile 's previous good restaurants, I 'd give the Campanie a chance to redeem itself. My partner and I got a 15% discount voucher from the hotel next door Premiere Classe Dunkerque Sud Loon Plage. No English version of the menu available, (highlights my ignorance as opposed to a shortcoming of the restaurant) but we got by, staff very helpful. Choice of meals 2 courses main with starter or desert and a three course option. Some of the cold starter buffet had run out, but the food was tasty and fresh. Limited options for a main meal (but could be no English menu and my rubbish French) but the food was hot and plentiful, my wife initially ordered the 3 course option but changed her mind as she was full. The rooms where brilliant, clean and tidy. Showers perfect. Food, not impressed as although they have a fair choice they do not have everything available. No good if there are a few of you. The food was not brilliant and I ended up leaving most of mine. I have only given this 4 Stars due to the food, but the rest was brilliant.

Staff good as you would expect in such a well known chain. Food disappointing in many ways. Congratulations to the chef he is a master at using the tin opener.

Our hotel offered us a 15% discount on presentation of our room key. Simple but good size servings. Staff run off their feet.
