In the past we have had a nice experience at the pub. But sadly since a change of staff, our visit was extremely disappointing. The managers Sam and Rob in particular were very rude and kept demanding that we pay for the car park despite ordering over £40 of food at the bar. We also ordered teas during the day but the same manager couldn’t be bothered to give me a cup to carry three hot drinks. The customer service was appalling. Then when we returned in the evening, we had reserved a table inside. Had the Xmas three course menu for a family party for my dads 80th birthday. 14 people. Booking was straight forward and had a couple of menu/people changes which they were helpful. Had a warm welcome from staff. Food excellent and plentiful. Staff couldn’t do enough for our party. If I asked for something they obliged immediately. Manager and staff are the best I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant and that’s how all places should be. Recommend the Caption Digby to anyone. Thanks for making our memories special.

We had a weekend family get together and came here for lunch. Staff were polite and friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping us with our choices. All of us had starters and mains, a few had dessert. All the courses arrived together, we all really enjoyed our food, plates were cleaned and everyone was happy! It’s such an interesting pub with a great history. If you are in the area I highly recommend it.

A fantastic location with a great view of the beach and cliffs. A large outside area with plenty of tables. The pub itself is a lovely building and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Nice food albeit a little overpriced. Only one cask ale available e Doombat which is my pet hate
