Captain Georges Fish & Chips

If you read any of my reviews youll see that I only write good reviews and not the bad ones..until now.My family and I have eaten here many times over the years. Overall, the food has been been consistently good and when we 've had a craving for fish and chips this has been our go-to place. Unfortunately the prices have become ridiculously high for fish which has certainly slowed our trips. .The food was, as always good. Now maybe I 'm wrong but im sure that the portion sizes of fish have shrunk way down in size. If you raise the cost of meals by over 30 percent then maybe the portion sizes should stay the same. We stopped in for dinner prior to going to a show. The food itself was excellent but to be honest we both thought the portions were small. I also had ordered a salad to go with my fish on a bun and fries but apparently there was a misunderstanding because I didn't get my fries (I didn't say anything, we were on a schedule and we weren't charged for them so I left it alone).I think they need more staff, servers in particular. It was the height of the dinner hour and there was one poor lady trying to look after everyone. Although not a fancy restaurant, Captain George Lindsay has great food. I often get the battered shrimp and they are huge! We find the prices are competitive, albeit as a whole, seafood has become expensive no matter where you go. I find that compared to the other seafood places in our area, Captain George has the edge on taste, portions and price, but that's my opinion. I think that the only place close to us that has as food as good as Captain George is perhaps Just For The Halibut in Bobcaygeon.

They managed to disappoint us this evening. We called ahead by 40 minutes to order our meal. They indicated that it would be ready at 6:15. 6:15 came and went for us and for another patron. But a regular came in ordered and was out of there in 10 minutes. Our name was finally called after he paid. The other patron was still waiting for her 6:15 order at approximately 6:30. I went here because I heard they had a really delicious burger But they told us they don't have And we ordered fish and chips I read the reviews about fish and chips before So I saw many people were happy about it But I had better fish and chips somewhere else. So their fish and chips couldn't beat my favorite one. But it was good.

So the joint was empty, on a friday of all days.The Karen at the till was asked to cut the Halibut fish order in 1/2 prior to deep frying, that was a we wont do that, I said why not, Karen said its already cut. I said this is not good took a leak and will never go back to that place.

Have to say was very generous great fish the gravy is good the fries were okay I was very happy with portions of fish and was cooked great thanks for making our bday dinner very good the staff are great . The man cooking the fish was friendly and the resteraunt clean thanks again

Sign states open until 8:00 pm. We walked in at 7:01 pm and got a lady yell at us while we were walking in the door that it's take out only. I guess she didn't want to wash dishes or a table. Poor customer service. Reserve uma mesa agora

Consistently excellent halibut chips, in all the years I’ve been enjoying eat -in and take out at Captain Georges I have never had 1 complaint and I am one fussy diner

Ignorant lady that works there yelled at us in front of our children. Will never be going there again.
