Carey's Restaurant and Pub

Folks, we arrived at Carey’s Pub as a last resort AND it should have been first on our list! We received a warm welcome from a couple that were finishing their meal. Service was served with a smile and it was very homey. Food was great! Watched the Leafs and Habs game. An amazing thing happened…we had a brief discussion about ‘tapping maple trees’ and ‘making maple syrup’ with the couple that welcomed us; after they left, they came back 10 minutes later with a bottle of their just ‘tapped’ maple syrup and gifted it to us with a warm ‘welcome to Muskoka’ truly awesome!! We’d definitely go back!!

Based on the TripAdvisor reviews this pub should get a Michelin rating. In my experience it should be rated as 0 stars. Unfortunately there is no such rating. Last Tuesday my wife and I went to have a dinner there. The place was empty except about dozen flies in the window. The floor and table were sticky with spilled beer. The waitress brought the menus and when she came to take an order she informed us that 4 out of 11 entrees are not available. We paid for our drinks and left.

We were a bit skeptical when we pulled up to this place if I’m honest, but we were VERY pleasantly surprised. The drinks were cold and the food was wonderful, especially the burger, 10/10! The server was very sweet with the wee ones in our group and everything arrived quickly. The only improvement could have been a bit more air conditioning on that muggy day. Thanks again for a great experience :

Decent enough dive bar food. Mostly previously frozen and fried foods. Some of the entree are fresh prepared …No many tho..wings -7/10, blue cheese 2/10, fries 7/10. Sides on entrees 5/10. Roast beef 8/10, mushroom caps 5/10 Service and friendly 8/10.

Freshly made flavourful food. We stopped to pick up lunch on the way to the golf course. Portions were huge and service was friendly.
