We used to frequent Caterina's after the Italian Village closed in Wakefield, as Caterina's menu was very similar to the now-closed restaurant. We especially enjoyed their eggplant dishes. Last night, after a hiatus of 3-4 years, we decided to revisit Caterina's. We were pleased to see a moderate sized crowd there, even during the off-season, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the veal zingerella while my wife had plain pasta with oil, garlic, and black olives. The red sauces were rich and flavorful, with kalamata olives adding a distinct taste. Since its opening in 2006, we have often dined and never disappointed the Catarinas Italian Village family. Before that time, we dined in the Italian village restaurant in Wakefield, which belonged to the same family. The food has always been well prepared and well presented traditional Italian recipes of the family. The waiting staff has always provided an excellent service. The aubergine dishes are the best we have ever eaten, and we have ordered Auberginen-Entrees in many restaurants that enjoy great reputation. Our friends and family members took care of other entanglements they ordered. The deserts are also very good and are at least sharing when you have space.
Even though I don't drink anymore, The Slace still serves one of my all-time favorite drinks. The blood orange martini with a twist of lime was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Just a heads up: stick to ordering only one because two can be a bit strong. The food portions are generous and delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
