Really great spot for some really great chicken. Hush puppies are fantastic, and the southern side of me loves fried tomatoes. Don't know if I can't justify a $13 price tag for one big tomato and some batter to fry in, but they will most certainly hit the spot if you're looking for comfort food.Only ever had one bad experience at Champys; my most recent visit. As a New Yorker, I'm delighted to have found this gem among the limited options for small chain fried chicken spots.Unlike disappointing and disgusting experiences with KFC and Popeyes, Champy's sets a new standard for fried chicken restaurants.The chicken itself was flawlessly cooked, tender, and juicy, making it an absolute delight.While the sauce could use a touch more generosity, the chicken alone was phenomenal. Had a lunch meeting at Champy's today. The menu is straightforward and there's a reason for that. They do a few things and they do them great. I had the fried buffalo chicken salad today (you know... because health... The greens were fresh. The pickles were a nice touch.More than that I can't say enough great things about the crew here. The server, bartender, and hosts were all genuine, warm, and prompt. Their manager is super nice and was in the dining room engaging with guests. Not to mention it was her birthday! Ordered chicken livers and they were very soft and tasted great. They put so many on my plate I took some home to eat later. On certain evening the have trivia games.
