Cote Sud - Reservar uma mesa

We were staying at the Hotel du Casino and went for an evening meal at their restaurant on our first night. It opened at 7.30pm. It was an inviting place with natural décor and had a lovely ambience. We received friendly and professional service for all the staff. We both chose two pommeau as our aperitifs which came with free delicious nibbles. We chose from the 29 euros four course meal. For starters we had tempura gambas with apple chutney, for mains one bouillabaisse and one sheperds pie, then camembert parcels with dressed salad and for dessert crème brulee. We had wonderful experience trying out the different dishes. We had a good bottle of cote du rhone red wine and finished our meals...

The food in this restaurant was quite good with a reasonable selection of formules. But the service was bizarre. The restaurant manager was seriously disinterested in his clients and looked severely put out whenever new potential clients arrived at the entrance! Another young chap struggled with service we almost wanted to help him by opening the bottle of wine ourselves. Another young chap must have had previous training and usually salvaged the situation with both efficiency and a smile. But the whole mis management of the place would have merited an amusing chapter in a novel! Being on holiday, it was quite funny but might have become irritating if staying more than one night!

The location of the restaurant is rather peculiar in the same building as the casino and cinema. However, is can be intimate enough and you must choose the end tables from the top floor they offer great views and pleasant sounds of the waves rolling on the pebbly beach. Great for dinner !

My friend and I chose the 23 euro menu which was delicious, well cooked and presented. A glass of wine for 3 euros was more than reasonable. I have given this four stars because the restaurant itself was a bit utilitarian but who cares when good food is served!

Very light and airy. Staff very attentive. We all had the 23E menu. I had the oysters, followed by a fish dish and a dessert comprising of a selection of small tarts. My partner had the steak. The portions were large and all the food was very tasty.
