Courtepaille - Reservar mesa

Normally we would swear by Courte Paille. Until this visit we would have always said that they are consistently good, never having been let down. Always meat cooked to perfection exactly as ordered. But on this occasion something went badly wrong.The starter I ordered was 2 poached eggs in a red wine, mushroom and bacon sauce. The sauce was warm but the eggs were hard, rubbery and stone cold - straight out of the fridge. Dropped in here whilst waiting on a ferry . Very enjoyable meal at reasonable prices . Not a lot of diners at the time we were there but the place had a warm and cosy feel to it . Staff were friendly and helpful . Toilets were very clean . The only negative of the evening was not a fault of the restaurant. A group of twelve members of the Irish traveller community came in . They were noisy, arrogant and verbally abusive towards staff. They sat at a table (which required cleaning and resetting after they left), ordered food (but departed before it was served and failed to cancel their order) and left the restaurant laughing after drinking water at the table and using the toilet facilities. We have visited here before getting the ferry home every year for about 5 years. Every time previously it has been packed and we have had to wait for a table, this time it was empty. We assumed this was because it was August and holiday time but afterwards we decided it was because the food is absolutely awful.The meat was over cooked the chips were dry and some were burnt and the final straw was when a bug crawled out of my wife's salad. The staff tried to convince us it was a mosquito which had landed on our food - it was a very big mosquito!!They did knock the cost of her meal off the bill but we were totally put off and will not be visiting again

The location on this restaurant is perfect if travelling to France by ferry. Not far from ferry terminal, Normandie Wines and Aparthotel plus shopping centre with 75 boutiques across the street!The food; one had grilled duck and me the delish burger with bacon and blue cheese and baked potato..all washed down with a lovely Bourgueil wine. The staff were really friendly and Santa arrived in the middle of dinner to top off the evening!Can well recommend this area for a stop over to re-energise before heading off on a French holiday or just coming over from Ireland to stock up on wine...! We have used Courtpaille in several towns and have always found them good value, but unfortunately there were a few problems here. My meal was delicious, but unfortunately one of the waiters had rather bad body odour, my partner's entrée wasn't nice and his duck main course was dry and overcooked. A second portion was provided without asking for it but was rather tasteless apparently. I was lucky in all my choices. The price of the disappointing entrée was deducted from the menu without question, so we will continue trying Courtepaille in the hope this was just a one off disappointment

We had dinner here on the last night in Cherbourg because we didn't want to cook and we were hungry a bit early for most places so we came here as they advertised being open early and the place were staying was just a few meters away. The service was good and the food was done pretty quickly. The menu is pretty good, mainly with main dishes made to order on the grill or wood stove. You can watch them grilling your meat from your table and it is grilled to your order. I had the burger with goat cheese and fries and my husband the burger with blue cheese.

We sometimes use Courtepaille travelling in France because you can get hot food cooked to order at any time of day. Last Sunday we arrived in Cherbourg too late for a proper Sunday lunch and too early for dinner, so went to the local CP. Two steaks 'a point' with chips should be rock solid perfect in what is basically a steakhouse. My wife's steak was burnt to a frazzle. Mine was half gristle and half just too tough to eat. We cut our losses and left. So sad. Usually reliable but we would have been better off at the MacDonalds next door. Ouch!

My wife and I were on our way to catch the ferry and stopped for a quick meal. As it was around 6pm we were the only people in the restaurant. On guidance from the waiter we order their sirloin steak and chips. The stake, firstly was very small and was totally uneatable. My advise would be go across the car park to McDonalds where you'll get value for money. Reserve uma mesa agora

Another visit and we were just one of three tables in Out-numbered by the staff on a Friday nightShame as the food was very good, quick service and pleasant staffWe will be back but perhaps a revamp in the menu as it hasn't changed at all in a while

Had a lovely lunch here before going to ferry, very friendly and professional staff... the meat is cooked perfectly! Couldn't believe how cheap it was plus complimentary salad and bread, perfect! Plus close to ferry too...
