Courtepaille Pouilly En Auxois

We ended up here as our hotel in nearby Sombernon didn't have a restaurant on Monday evening. One nice touch about this restaurant, and I assume it's the same for other branches in the chain, is that the meat is cooked on a grill in the centre of the restaurant so everyone can see. That said, however, the overall atmosphere wasn't particularly great and it's clear that this establishment caters almost exclusively for passing trade from the nearby motorway. Food was ok but nothing to write home about, and the porition sizes aren't great either so bear that in mind if you are particularly hungry! Certainly not worth going out of your way for but if you're in the area then there's not that much...

Food and service in this restaurant is pretty average if compared to other Courtepaille restaurants we have visited. Our potatoe from the fireplace was basically charcoaled and ineatable. Meat was definitely not fine quality. Was our dinner bad. No, but we did go look for other places other nights.

English menus available and English speaking staff who were pleasantly attentive. Sat near the grill and watched the chef cooking some wonderful cuts of meat. I went for the mixed skewer and the meal was very good. Not too expensive at £52 for 2 inc 2 drinks and 3 courses :

We ate here because it was near the hotel du Val Vert. The service was very good and the baked potato was yummy. The entrecôte, on the other hand was awful, full of fat and sinews. Almost inedible!

This restaurant is right next to the Hotel du Val Vert in Creancy it has nice food. A bit expensive but the quality of the food is really good.
