Crumbs Bakery Cafe

I was meeting friends here on the way back to the coast. The bakery is the primary focus here, with tables added as an afterthought. They sell local art which is hanging on the bare white walls which are in need of fresh paint, and perhaps some color. The lighting is bare antique style incandescents which are only a little annoying.I arrived shortly after 8 a.m. and they were still getting things in the oven. (Being from the city, I am used to bakeries starting up around 4 - 4:30 so that they are ready for customers when they open; but they get a pass on that because they are in a smaller community).The cinnamon apple bun I had was delicious and required another one shortly after I finished...

Arrived in Castlegar around lunch time and was craving soup and sandwich for a meal. Really not into fast food place so we did a drive through the main area of Castlegar as we usually just drive right on through on our way to somewhere else.Crumbs caught my eye so we did a U-turn and went in. So glad we did.The Thai Carrot soup was fabulous as was the fresh focaccia pannini sandwich we shared. Yes it was that generous. I recommend taking the five minute drive from the Chevron on the main highway to try this wonderful gem.

Their products are so good that we made sure to go through Castlegar a second time. We had poppy buns, muffins, scones, and flourless chocolate cookie, all hand made and very tasty. Such a great find for a small tone strip mall,

Stumbled upon this place and it was a total score. Incredibly friendly staff. The sandwiches, treats and coffee are all amazing. The atmosphere is and decor is simple and modern. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Freshly made bakery goods and sandwiches, and the best coffee (Americano) I've ever had. The owner even explained the coffee beans selection and roasting process. Crumbs is a must stop place for breakfast or lunch!
