De L'esplanade - Reservar uma mesa

If you are particular about your espresso or pourovers, finding your morning coffee in France can be challenging. Some is great but much is not. If you are in or near Uzes, take a look at the Bar de l 'Esplanade. We noticed the signs offering 8+ regional varieties Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, etc. some organic varieties 'bio ' , and Peruvian decaf; and after 2 weeks in France we were inspired by the idea that we had a choice. So in we went. This is a classic French bar cafe popular with local residents, bright and friendly, and in addition to inside tables there are lots of tables chairs outside on the sidewalk. If you are a tourist DO NOT go here. They will not serve you. LITERALLY. You will sit and sit waiting for someone to take your order and you will still be sitting while many others are served. You will finally have to get up and leave. My friends told me this happened to them in this otherwise incredibly friendly town (I live here), and I thought they must have misperceived the situation; but then it happened again to other English speaking friends. Both groups ended up leaving with no one ever having taken their order or even acknowledging their presence.

Stopped in on previous reviewer's espresso advice....but! If you are an espresso snob like me don't get too excited, lots of variety but capsule quality! Everyone around me was tucking into Oysters that seemed to be going down well, not sure if that is just on market day.

The bar itself isn 't that special at all. But on market days you can eat fresh Oysters from the local fish seller on the terras. Even though the bar is located near the road this is an thing you should absolutely try if you like 'La douce France ' and of course Oysters.

Nice coffee, cool thing is that you can order oysters, have these served at your table, providing that you orders drinks at the Café. Whatu dislike though is that you can't pay with Visa or Mastercard. And one of the waiter is serving while smoking at the same time.
