I 've dined here a few times and feel remiss if I do not take the time to write a review. Each time, the service is fast and courteous. The atmosphere is casual and I have been consistently greeted with a smile at the door. Once seated, within seconds, I 've been greeted by a server, the last time it was Michele (who was very enthusiastic and attentive), with a smile, and a warm, friendly, hello. The menu is vast, which is great for larger parties because there is literally something for everyone. Now, on to the food! Great food! Had a not so impressive experience previously but glad I took another chance to try out this restaurant. Attended a small holiday dinner for the Northern Virginia NPHC (Divine 9) chapter. Had the fried pork chops with mac and cheese and greenbeans (vegetable of the day) as my sides. Was not too ashamed to drop the fork and eat the meat off the bone. That's how youknow it's good! I saw others trying the grilled pork chops and the chicken wings dinner which all looked delicious. I snuck somegreens from another plate to taste and it was delicious as well. Will be back to try the desserts. Oh and the rum punch was anice compliment while waiting for my food.

Has a really homey vibe with family photos on the walls, plates full of comfort food, and friendly service. I actually hate that I only came here for the first time today because I loved it. Like LOVED it. The chicken biscuit with honey was 10/10, and my husband said he got the best burger he's eaten in a long time. Unfortunately, we skipped dessert, but I think that peach cobbler or banana pudding might have my name on it next time I'm back. I'm told there are brunch options on weekends and live jazz every Thursday. Hubs and I are planning to be back next week for jazz night!

The collard greens melt in your mouth! The baby back ribs were tender and finger licking good. This is simply great home cooking outside of your home. You can taste the love and attention that they put in preparation. The restuarant is welcoming with itsphotos of actual family members and other historical figures. I did not partake of the bar but it appeared to be fully stockedwith quality spirits. Great place for a first date or Family outing. I ordered the mac and cheese to go, so I didn't get to taste it while at the restaurant, and I missed the opportunity to give direct feedback. The serving size was quite small, and perhaps the cheese proportions in my batch were off. It might be a good idea to offer two versions of mac and cheese: a traditional one and another variation. I wouldn't recommend the version I had during this visit, though.

The food is decent but it is over priced. My wife and I went for my birthday and I ordered the crab cakes. When I received them I was excited until I tasted it. They had no flavor and it was mixed with meat from some kind of fish. There was very little crab meat in it. The crab cakes are $38 so you think your getting good quality crab meat and your not. It's mostly fish. I was very disappointed.

I love this place! Food was AMAZING! I had the shrimp and grits... it was chefs kiss Hubby had the chicken and waffles, we shared a side of Mac and cheese. I devoured every bite!!! Music was really nice. Ambience totally a cool vibe. Great service. Visiting from out of town but boy when I get the chance... I will be back! PS: Pricey but worth each penny

I ordered the catfish and grits,only one small piece of catfish and enough grits to feed 3 people.My friend ordered the whiting and they had two pieces.I'm assuming they giving bowl of grits to make up for that one small piece of catfish.I want to support this place because I believe it's black owned. Food is SO good. The standout for me was the banana pudding. It was thick, and had nilla wafers throughout that were still crunchy. The portion size was impressive and the flavors were on point.

Food is amazing! 10/10 if you want a really good time go there on Thursdays they have a live Jazz band you will let be it . The service here is great..everyone is so friendly.
