"Brilliant visit with very helpful staff. We really enjoyed the quiz as we went round. The first bit was a bit tight in a mobility scooter but after that just fine. Great shop with good prices and then a lovely coffee shop."

Does exactly what it says on the pencil tin. You know how it is. You're in the Lake District. It's raining. Heavily. You've had a couple of cream teas and bought some Goretex underpants. But there's still hours until dinner. The Derwent Pencil Museum is your ready made solution. Affordable, fun and chock full of pencils the DPM (as absolutely no one calls it) is a happy place for all your graphite related needs. History of pencils? Check. A really, really big pencil? Check. Diamond encrusted pencil? Check. All this and more. Handy café. Slightly hidden toilets. Shop full of a wide range of pencils. You will not regret it.

a hidden gem worth a visit. the prices are extremely reasonable £12:50 for two adults and a child) with parking, toilet facilities and a small caffe all available. there were for workshops children and various quizzes for adults and children to do as they wander around the museum, and prices available as soon completed. the museum has to be reinvented after the devastating floods, and for a small area there is a lot of interesting information, especially the secret war work that is carried out here during the second world war. highly recommended!

Great place to visit, although smaller than expected and doesn't take long at all to get around the museum. Parking is chargeable and not operated by the museum, there wasn't any café or refreshments. However overall a very interesting place with the Worlds largest real colour pencil. A WWII Secret Pencil, A 60 Diamond Queens Jubilee Pencil and more including a gift shop too.

This is a superb little museum. Packed with history and information. Staff are really friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely visit again when I’m back in the area. Gift shop had great prices on the art materials too! I absolutely recommend a visit if you have the opportunity.
