The two of us went for dinner. The room is a little antiseptic but the tables are well separated: the antithesis of the American Experience. The food was outstandingly cooked and beautifully presented. So what went wrong? Nothing except we don't do complicated and we don't do chichi. There were simply too many differing flavours and attention grabbers in every dish. It's not that we are meat and potatoes lovers either. We like elegance, simplicity and craftsmanship in food, wine, fashion, architecture, music and art. Didier de Courten has all of that to a great degree except simplicity.
