I went to the restaurant for happy hour with my friend and decided to order the California Pad Thai. About thirty minutes after finishing my meal, I started experiencing terrible stomach cramps, to the point where I couldn't even stand up. The next day, I realized that my discomfort may have been due to my intolerance to MSG. I called the restaurant and the host confirmed with the cook that they did use MSG in that dish. I've eaten at Equator in the past and was very disappointed with my last experience. I went 7/16 (a Tuesday night) which was $1 martini night-there's a reason they're offering them for $1-I'd doubt if there's any alcohol in them they do NOT taste good. The appetizers we ordered were mediocre at best and the service out on their patio was SLOW. I used to recommend this place to others. Now I question whether I'll ever go back.

Equator is a vital part of Old Town due to its excellent coffee, impressive bar service, and its role as a meeting spot for locals. It has become a go-to spot for myself and my friends, especially with its $1 martini and jazz-wine nights during the week. The staff are friendly and attentive, making it easy to meet new people. Overall, Equator offers great food and drinks for a fun and social gathering experience.

The restaurant did not honor my reservation. At first, the host told us that they didn't have any tables left. Then he gave us a table, but then explained that it would be a really long time before any food could be prepared. We subsequently decided to leave and go to another restaurant.

The flavors of the food need to be more authentic and less sweet for Asian cuisine. The sweet black sauce should be lighter. Some dishes need to have the correct names, for example vermicelli is not the same as chow mein.
