Ernesto's Authentic Mexican Food

On our second visit, my wife tried the pollo fresco, which also cost $22. I couldn't help but chuckle under my breath at how sad the dish looked—very much like an $8 bag of stir-fry I could get at the grocery store. The taste was no better. The dish was meant to come with seasoned fried potatoes on a bed of fried tortilla, but instead, it arrived with rice. We were informed shortly after ordering that they couldn't provide the potatoes and were offered rice instead, which we accepted. The pricing is quite inconspicuous, especially for a city like this, and to make matters worse, they added extra charges for things we never requested. For instance, one of us ordered a regular shrimp dish, and they charged an additional $7 for using large shrimp, which we hadn't asked for. Furthermore, some items on their menu are incorrect. I would not recommend this place.

The restaurant is now named Ernesto's Latin Cuisine, and I wouldn't recommend going there. I inquired with the waitress if they offered margaritas, and she confirmed that they did. However, I was disappointed to see her pour a Mike's hard lemonade instead.

great atmosphere! the waitress and the cook had pleasant personalities! the chef came out and made a suggestion on a special dish and it was the best choice I would have made! this business will continue to thrive!

The food is excellent! However, if you're in a rush, it's best to avoid coming with a large group. Our waitress was fantastic—she handled everything wonderfully. Just be prepared for a longer wait if it’s busy.

Hooray for Ernesto's in Valdez! I was initially a bit hesitant due to the low reviews for Ernesto's in Anchorage, but this location exceeded my expectations with some solid Texas-style cuisine.
