Took the opportunity of their special 4 courses for £12 which is for Thursday night only. Did phone up to see if we needed to reserve and though they took our name, there was no need. A group of guys on a night out was the only company and as the restaurant is on the small side did in the end look crowded. We shared a Shemi Kebab and Sheesh kebab for starters . Tasty and spicey. For my main meal had the Murgh Melai (Malayan Chicken )which stated as hot and creamy. Very tasty but lacking in spice. My wife had the Pistachio Chicken which she said was very tasty. The 4 course was made up of a starter, main with rice(or naan bread) and a vegetable side dish. I had the Motor Paneer and my wife had...
This was our second visit having had a really great meal last time we came. When walked in on a Friday night to find an empty restaurant. We hadn 't booked but it looked as though that didn 't matter. I ordered the king prawn byriani as it was so good the first time I ate here. My partner went for the chicken byriani for the same reason. What a disappointment! Both dishes were far too heavily spiced and had a really large amount of chilli heat. I love chilli but enjoy the subtlety of a byriani so this completely ruined the meal for both if us. When i bought this too attention of our waiter he just shrugged and said A byriani is too hot! As though I was a curry lightweight. No apology or even...
Visited for a quick meal with the wife cold cobra and poppadoms while perusing the menu. This was not our first visit. It was very quiet but the take away was booming ! I’ve had excellent take away from here too. We ordered our food which took a long time to appear and when it did we had an issue with it. However the matter was dealt with swiftly the whole meal being removed and replaced in what seemed just a few minutes with an apology and an extra side we enjoyed every tasty bite. The bill was reasonable and we left satisfied with chili fix. I do like this little restaurant and will use it again for both take out and dining. It’s a mark of good customer service when a complaint is dealt wi...
The Bengal is 1 of 2 Indian restaurants on Lampits hill so are trying to be good to stay in business at this trying time. We had a good meal there and would definitely go again.I usually have a Madras which was fine and interestingly slightly hotter (spice wise) than the other restaurant down the road Reasonably priced. No real problems so would recommend
There is a huge selection of restaurants in this area but this is one of the best. I use it regularly for its takeaway and it’s always excellent. It offers a wide selection and all the usual favourites. On the odd occasion I’ve used the eat in restaurant the service has been slick and friendly. The food quality never disappoints. I rate this a must visit.
Live locally, always had good food but not this time. Always order tikka chicken in whatever dish we have, this time we ordered the set meal one B and an extra main meal both has tikka chicken, it could of been anything we was eating, no flavour, full of water and definitely not tasting like chicken. Afraid we will not be going back.
I didn’t think it was possible for Indian food to be so lacking in taste. Had a prawn puri ? to start, and a chicken madras, with mushroom rice for main course. I reckon if I’d been blindfolded, I’d have struggled to tell the difference between the prawns and the chicken. All very wet. Not good enough.
