You have to be committed going to Tatzlwurm to endure the windy and narrow road up the mountain (especially at night and in the winter), but you're definitely rewarded once you get there. The grounds of the restaurant and hotel are beautiful and the interior...of the restaurant is quaint, warm and authentic. The food was wonderful, from drinks to appetizers to entrees to dessert. Not one regret from our party of 9, and we all ordered something different. I don't know if it's typical, but while we were there, they played American 70s and 80s music, which was a strange juxtaposiiton of visual and aural elements... but we still enjoyed all aspects of the visit, music and all!
the resort hotel area is very nice. the hotel is located in the middle of the mountain, drive there on the narrow winding road during the day is very pleasant, but must be careful in the night. the restaurant decor is typical Bavarian with lots of wood, but the ambiente. is airy and yet cozy. the waiting staff is efficient display extremely friendly. eating is well prepared and very tasty. the wine selection is pretty good. excellent food for a special occasion.
serendipity always has his rewards! we stayed a walk on a parking lot in the forest and came over the waterfall. we could see some tables for the service and came over the restaurant at the back door. we sat outside in. shiny sun and enjoyed their white asparagus with fish and carving. first-class service accompanied the meal and drove us for the return to the forest parking (upward). the hotel has a great wellness area.
we visited with the whole family, as we have done in the last 30 years often. to our surprise the restaurant has changed and not for the better. the meal times are too expensive, the personal unfriendly and the eating was ok. They seem to focus on “stylish” or business customers, no longer to visit families. we'll stay away in the future.
