Florina's Greek Tavern

The good wife and i returned to this cafe after a very satisfactory visit on the first occasion. However, the return visit was not as nice. We started with the saganki which is fried cheese (which was too salty for my taste) although my wife, who has a high tolerance for salt, enjoyed it. We then followed with fried calamari for me plus a side of chips and lamb plus tzatziki dip for the wife. I was a little suprised that the meals were as described with nothing additional accompanying the meals (no salad or veges). I thought that some bread might accompanying the lamb and some sort of salad with the calamari but no. They were offered as sides so I guess we should have had some sort of clue b...

5 stars is not enough for this outstanding restaurant. From the booking experience which was so helpful to the warm and friendly staff and the delicious food we were just wowed. We visited from Sydney and the restaurant came highly recommended. The restaurant is spacious and the menu exceptional 3 of us ate ordering 3 mains and one starter and took home a huge doggy bag. The grilled fillet of fish was exceptional melted in your mouth. The Greek lamb off the spit was delicious and the potato chips (naughty us) were hot and tasty. Saturday night, family down from Canberra – and no one had remembered to book for dinner at our favourite local. Time to be adventurous then, try somewhere new! We finally got a table at Florinas Greek Tavern in Glenferrie Road. Unknown territory but a serendipitous choice. We were all a bit tired and grumpy but that soon disappeared in the sheer determination of the staff to make sure we had a very good time. And we did. The service was swift, the food – though be warned, this is no place for vegetarians – was excellent and the bill reasonable. If you love barbecued meat and seafood, this is the place for you. We were a group of six friends, some seeing eachother after almost thirty years. The wine was good the food was amazing we all shared in the seafood platter and meat platter... the food was divine. The person who served our table was lovely and accommodating. The standard and quality remains the same from my first visit here in 2019 for a work-related Christmas party.

Saganaki was overcooked and almost needed a steak knife to cut it. Chicken was bland, had no flavoring had multiple bones in it. Lamb was OK, but nothing special. Greek salad didn't seem to have any dressing. From a 1st time customer, I won't be going back.
